Grandhotel Pupp – The Rendezvous Site for Movie Stars

The elegance of Grandhotel Pupp lures filmmakers from around the world to Karlovy Vary. Grandhotel Pupp offers not only facilities to filmmakers, but also receives film roles itself. One of its largest roles was played by the Festive Hall in the romantic film The Ring, starring Nastassja Kinski and Michael York.

Grandhotel Pupp also played a big role in the 2005 filming of the American comedy Last Holiday. Actress Queen Latifah was taken by her life story on a journey across the ocean, where she fulfilled her dream of meeting her culinary idol, played by Gérard Depardieu.

The hotel presented itself in its most famous film role to date in 2006, when James Bond himself visited the hotel. Luxurious cars, the mysterious Bond-like atmosphere, a beautiful Bond girl, and Grandhotel Pupp shone in the 21^st Bond movie Casino Royale.

In the biographical drama about Édith Piaf, the Festive Hall of Grandhotel Pupp appears in the very first shots. Filmmakers transformed the Festive Hall into a paradise of flowers for this piece.

Club Malá Dvorana also got to play a role, and appeared in one of the episodes of the action series Philanthropist.

The premises of Grandhotel Pupp can also be seen in Czech films, such as Svatba s podmínkou (A Wedding with a Condition), Pan Tau (Mr. Tau), Vrchní, prchni! (Waiter, Scarper!), Rozpaky kuchaře Svatopluka (The Indecisiveness of Chef Svatopluk), Náhrdelník (The Necklace), and others.

Although the hotel maintains its historic charm, it has also undergone many changes. In 2013, the new wellness centre Pupp Royal Spa was constructed. The names of selected famous hotel guests throughout the centuries are engraved into seventy plaques. Twenty other plaques are still waiting for new names to be engraved into them.
