Hotel Imperial (1912)
The Hotel Imperial, the Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) dominant, was built before the World War I as a luxury spa hotel for the most demanding clientele. Hotel Imperial was built using the latest technologies and transportation to the hotel was innovatively designed. Apart from the road to the hills above the town, there is also a 127 m long funicular , which leads to the hotel from the Theatre Square through the tunnel cut in the rock. The funicular is used not only by the hotel guests, but also by the public.
Even after the World War I the Hotel Imperial was primarily used for accommodation and spa treatments of the wealthy international clientele. After the World War II, the hotel continued in providing accommodation mostly to foreign visitors. However, most of them came from the Soviet bloc countries. After the 1989 Velvet Revolution the hotel started to gain the favour of guests from all around the world again. It regularly hosts many important Czech and foreign celebrities.
The newly reconstructed Imperial spa hotel offers a complex spa care as well as wellness programs, many beautiful rooms, restaurants and other options for enjoying sports.
