A view into the Spa Zone. In the left foreground you can see the Vřídelní kolonáda (The Hot Spring Colonnade) that covers the most renowned Karlovy Vary spring – the Vřídlo (Hot Spring). On the lower right you can see the Castle Tower (The Castle Tower), that Charles IV had built in the 14th century. On the upper left you can notice the Municipal Theatre.
The Grand Hotel Pupp jis one of the most significant and most luxurious hotels in Karlovy Vary. Its foundations were laid in 1781. This five-star hotel offers accommodation in 111 luxury rooms.
Hotel Imperial is another important building in Karlovy Vary. This dominant structure of Karlovy Vary was created in 1912. Since then this luxury hotel offers its guests complete services in the area of balneotherapy, accommodation and gastronomy.
Another view into the Spa Zone, where the Hotel Imperial stands out. The Hotel is surrounded by Spa Forest , that offer more than 130 km of tourist hiking trails, dozens of viewpoints, gazebos and other small structures. With a walk in the woods you can, for instance, arrive at the Diana Lookout Tower or visit many other interesting places.
Yet another view of the Spa Zone offers a view of the Mill Colonnade – the most popular Karlovy Vary colonnade (in the lower left). In the upper left you can notice the Grandhotel Pupp. The entire Spa Zone is encircled by Spa Forest that is interwoven by many tourist hiking trails.
This view is dominated by a square building - the Vojenský lázeňský ústav (Military Spa Institution.) It is adjacent to the Spa III. On the complete left you can see part of the Mill Colonnade. The Hotel Thermal stands on the right of the Military Medical Institution. In the right upper corner you can find an administrative centre of Karlovy Vary.
The Thermal Spa Hotel is the headquarters of the International Film Festival – the most significant cultural and social activity of the region. Above the Thermal Spa Hotel there is a thermal swimming pool, with access for the hotel guests as well as for the public.
The four-star Hotel Thermal in the centre of Karlovy Vary was built in 1977 by the Machonin husband and wife. Thanks to its advantageous location, its beautiful view of the heart of the spa; and its comfortable accommodation, it is a popular site not only during the traditional International Film Festival. In its building one can find the main movie auditorium of the Film Festival, a congress hall, the hotel, a restaurant, coffee room and a fifty-metre thermal swimming pool.
The T.G. Masaryk Street is the main artery that connects the Spa Zone with the rest of the city. It starts with the Jan Becher Museum, continues on past the Národní dům (National House) and further past the modern Perla department store all the way to the building of the Main Post Office, that has become a traditional starting point of most excursions into the historic centre of Karlovy Vary. Here you will find many shops and cafés that provide a pleasant atmosphere to the street. The salient point of the T.G. Masaryk Street is the bronze statue of the first Czech president after whom the street is named - Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.
The Russian Orthodox St. Peter and Paul’s Church – a Church Historical Monument, is truly a dominant structure among the surrounding Art Nouveau villas on the Krále Jiřího Street (King George Street) in the spa district. This conspicuous structure was built according to the design of the architect J. Wiedmann with the significant support of the Russian nobility that financed the entire construction. The combination of the onion domes, the small towers, and cupolas dazzles not the foreign visitors.
Mill Colonnade – under its roof that is supported by 124 Corinthian columns, is a site for an orchestra and five mineral water springs (the Rock Spring, Libuše Spring, the Prince Wenceslas I Spring, Rusalka Spring and the Mill Spring). Its area is decorated with allegorical reliefs and statuettes.
