Klášterec nad Ohří

Klášterec nad Ohří lies 36 km northeast of Karlovy Vary. It takes only half an hour and you can easily reach the place by a car, train or bus.

The town of Klášterec nad Ohří was founded sometime in the 14^th century. But about a century before that, there was a monastery (“klášter”) which was standing in the place of the today's chateau, from which Klášterec got its name. The chateau was built in its place only in the sixteenth century.

Today the Klášterec nad Ohří Chateau is part of the urban monument reserve and apart from its valuable Renaissance interiors you can also view an extensive collection of the Czech porcelain which covers its production from 1792 until the 20th century. Unique also is the Chateau Park from the 19^th century, where you can find 220 dendrologically important trees from around the world.
