Tourfilm Karlovy Vary 2013

Tourfilm, the International Tourism Film Festival is back in Karlovy Vary. The traditional travellers’ film festival “Tourfilm” will take place in Karlovy Vary from 3 to 5 October 2013. The Tourfilm presents and awards films and multimedia contributing to the development of national and international tourism by their content and art level annually. The festival programme consists of competition films, television films and multimedia with the topics of tourism, showings of the enrolled films and multimedia for the public, seminars, discussions, and there will also be additional and professional events for the public. The main star of this year’s 46^th year is Céline Cousteau. Céline Cousteau is a daughter of marine explorer and film-maker Jean-Michel Cousteau and grand-daughter of the legendary Jacques Yves Cousteau, a co-developer of the Aqua-Lung (1942) who commanded the RV Calypso research vessel (since 1950) and who also shot the first colour underwater film (1952). His films “The Silent World” and “World without Sun” have received the Oscar for the best full-feature documentary film. He also produced the popular series “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.” His son and then especially his grand-daughter Céline have continued in his work. Céline prepared the “Ocean Inspiration” project in 2011 to the 100^th anniversary of her grandfather’s birth serving as a platform to celebrate and appreciate conservation of seas and oceans in all forms, from science to art, dance and film-making.
