The legend of the social life in Karlovy Vary, the Smíchovský pavilon Restaurant, took part in the 14th year of the "Structures of the Karlovy Vary Region" competition. In less than one year from its reopening, the traditional Karlovy Vary restaurant has obviously gained considerable popularity among the public because, thanks to the votes of its satisfied guests, the Smíchovský pavilon may boast of winning first place in the public award category of the "Structures of the Karlovy Vary Region" competition.

The tradition of this Karlovy Vary restaurant dates far back into the past. The construction of the then Sportpavillongebäude began in 1886. Since then, the Smíchovský pavilon (Smíchov Pavilion) has been visited by many notable personages. Austrian Empress Sissi stopped at the restaurant for a glass of water during her walk, and the restaurant was a frequent stop of Czech industrialist Tomáš Baťa during his walks through the spa. Czech traveller and adventurer Emil Holub became so fond of the restaurant that he began giving lectures about his Africa travels here. During the film festival, the Smíchovský pavilon was the centre of cultural life. Its Smíchov beer and unforgettable Czech cuisine attracted Czech actors Jan Werich, Miroslav Horníček, Josef Bek, and Karel Effa or French actor Pierre Brice.

As soon as you enter the Smíchovský pavilon Restaurant, you will be instantly embraced by history with its elegant style scented by the gastronomy of the interwar years so typically emphasising game. In the times of the first Czechoslovak republic, the cuisine drew inspiration from traditional Czech recipes, as well as from the strong influences of French cuisine. That is why you will find such dishes as beef cheeks on red wine, lamb legs, or coq au vin.

The first non-smoking restaurant in Karlovy Vary offers 3 lounges with the total capacity of 180 seats. The large Staropramen Hall is located on the ground floor. Since its foundation, the Smíchovský pavilon has been closely tied to the Smíchov Brewery in Prague and this collaboration continues to this day. It is no wonder that the dominant of the pavilion, the large hall for 90 people, was named after the brewery's best-known beer. In the summer months guests may relax at an outdoor terrace.
Emil Holub's African Lounge. In addition to numerous hunting trophies and other artefacts, guests may see razors used by the members of Emil Holub's expedition to Africa. The pavilion was also favoured by inventor Josef Mayer. Josef Mayer’s Realistic Lounge  dedicated to this ingenious inventor is located on the first floor of the Smíchovský pavilon where guests may learn and see his entire life’s story.
The layout and furnishing of the lounges is ideal for various corporate events and private celebrations. All the premises are equipped with state-of-the-art sound equipment and big screens, which makes them more than suitable for watching major sports events.

Come visit our Smíchovský pavilon Restaurant in Lidická Street, you will be enchanted by its style and local gastronomy.
