An unusual experience not only for the Hotel Imperial guests but for all visitors of Karlovy Vary, especially for the lovers of arts, has been prepared again by the company Imperial Karlovy Vary. Starting on Monday, the 15th of July, artists lead by Professor Michal Moravec will work for ten days on creating sculptures called collectively the “Springs Fairies” in the park in front of Hotel Imperial. The team of artists lead by the academic sculptor and professor Michal Moravec will work directly in the exterior, in the park in front of Hotel Imperial. People interested in observing the creation of an artwork can come and become directly involved in an interesting cultural event. After the preview the sculptures will stay in the park as an original part of the cultural environment of Hotel Imperial.

“The Springs Fairies comprise of five individual figures 180 to 200 centimetres high. They are a rather subtle and fragile vision, a work of my fantasy. Yet on the spot it will be a collective work on which I and my students will work on all statues as needed,” said Michal Moravec. The team of artists lead by academic sculptor and art-school professor Michal Moravec is made up of the school graduates Pavel Moravec and Štěpán Čížek, as well as students of the 4th grade of the school Josef Knap and Karel Zelený.

The cooperation of academic sculptor Michal Moravec with the company Imperial Karlovy Vary was launched by the last year’s exhibition of his paintings and sculptures in Spa Resort Sanssouci. The idea of creating original sculptures made as a tribute to the healing effects of the Karlovy Vary hot spring water for the park in front of Hotel Imperial which took form in the artist’s mind during the year excited the company’s representatives. Michal Moravec developed the drawings in autumn of last year and then made plaster models along with his team, and now they transported the prepared Hořice sandstone blocks to Karlovy Vary. So the carrying out of the final work is starting.

It is not the first activity in the effort to develop the cultural traditions in Karlovy Vary brought about by the company Imperial Karlovy Vary. It has been organizing the Imperial Design Symposium since 2007 during which young designers get an opportunity to present their creative potential.

“The town of Karlovy Vary has always been a place of inspiration and creative activity of artists from all fields of art who used to come here from the whole world. Some time ago we felt that this tradition had disappeared somehow so we are trying to revive it now. That is why you will find a number of original works of art in our hotels, that is why we are trying to raise interest in the world of spa care among designers, and there are also exhibitions of art glass makers in our establishments,” explains the director general of the company Imperial Karlovy Vary Alexandr Rebjonok. “The topics of all of our art activities have always been closely connected with our main purpose which is further strengthening of our position as a leader in modern balneology and developer of modern spa care. It is quite clear and demonstrable in our cooperation with academic sculptor Michal Moravec: the Springs Fairies in the park in front of the Imperial will forever proclaim our endless admiration of the unique hot spring water of Karlovy Vary on whose healing effects the essential part of our treatment is based.”
